About
Conference and meeting location In de Driehoek is a small-scale, easily accessible meeting center in the heart of Utrecht. Part of the center is the historic Gertrudiskapel with many medieval details. In addition, it has modern meeting rooms.
The rooms are very suitable for conferences, meetings, training sessions, workshops, and presentations as well as receptions, festive lunches, and dinners.
The Gertrudiskapel has the status of a European Monument and contains, among other things, many historical paintings.
History
The Gertrudiskapel served as a church until 1914, and what it looked like back then can be seen in a painting by Johannes Steffelaar from 1896. This painting is still on display in the current conference and meeting center. The church was abandoned when the new cathedral church was taken into use. In 1928, the Old Catholic Museum was established there. This moved in 1968 to the present Catharijneconvent, where it has its own department. A major restoration was carried out in the 1990s, during which the chapel received the Europa Nostra Award, a prize for (preservation of) cultural heritage. Since 1992, the Gertrudiskapel has been the historical jewel of conference and meeting center In de Driehoek.
