About the venue
In the middle of the Rotterdam harbor area, on the grounds of the former Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM), is the RDM Canteen. A place where metalworkers and shipbuilders met during breaks in the early 20th century, with a sandwich from their own lunchbox. That function of meeting and coming together has remained to this day.
And actually, it is no different today. The ‘workers’ have changed and the lunchboxes stay at home, but the moment of gathering in the canteen is still the same. In addition to being a meeting place for companies and students on the grounds, the RDM Canteen is also excellent for various events.
The interior combines authentic industrial elements with contemporary accents: high ceilings, robust materials, and atmospheric lighting, complemented by color accents and warm details. The location consists of two parts. The RDM Room can be separated by a steel glass wall, making it extremely suitable for meetings, presentations, or plenary moments in complete peace. The canteen area forms the heart of the location, with a bar, restaurant setup, and direct connection to the kitchen: ideal for meetings, drinks, and dinners.
Outside, the RDM Canteen has a terrace with a view of the harbor, which is perfect for business drinks and barbecues in nice weather.
The RDM Canteen is easily accessible by car, with ample free parking right at the door. Additionally, the location can be reached in a unique way by water taxi, which docks at the Canteen.
