Het landgoed Loenen

Estate Loenen aan de Waal is located in a picturesque, green environment. The estate consists of about 190 hectares of wooded inland dike lands and expansive outer dike floodplains, managed by Staatsbosbeheer. Characteristic are the shady sandy paths, the wet ash and oak forest, and the historic avenues such as the Grote Allee. 

Directly adjacent to the estate lies the Loenensche Buitenpolder, a floodplain of over 80 hectares along the Waal. This area has been reorganized to increase river dynamics and now offers a marshy and grass-rich habitat for various bird species, such as the corncrake and the purple gallinule. Walking and cycling routes lead visitors through this varied landscape, with information panels along the way providing insights into the rich nature and cultural history of the area.
