About the space
Under the ridge of the castle is the Van Habsburgzaal. The hall is characterized by its unique wooden beam ceiling, various seating areas, and a warm atmosphere. Equipped with air conditioning and large skylights in the space, the hall offers a view of the center of Woerden. This hall is only accessible via a narrow staircase.
In 1490, Jan van Montfoort was defeated by Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg. The Van Habsburgzaal is named after this emperor. The emperor appointed a bailiff for the land of Woerden, and the castle became the residence of this bailiff.
