About
On the balcony of this 17th-century hall church stands an impressive organ. At least, that's what it seems at first sight. But looks can be deceiving. Because the Protestant community of 's-Heerenhoek does not have the money for a real organ. That's why they purchased a second-hand Vocalion in 1902. And a clever imitation pipe facade is placed in front of it. A Vocalion sounds almost the same as an organ, so it seems as if schoolmaster Pols is accompanying the psalms on a real organ. During the service, men and women sit separately. The men in the benches along the side walls, the women on chairs in the middle. The year of construction of the pulpit is carved in the back panel: 1674. The atmosphere of the interior is that of the early 20th century.
